Well, remember that time I was going to blog on a regular, (or semi regular) basis? hahahahahHAHAHA…
The Season has been good to me so far, I wrapped up at Spruce Meadows this last weekend, and it was fabulous to reconnect with some great people I have met along my journey! It is also incredibly humbling to have people walk by, turn to their friends and say, I bought that last year! Or I follow this shop on Instagram, (Yes, we can hear you guys…. Even you the ‘I’ll make that at home’ peeps, LOL). The amount of encouragement and love from the community who appreciates small businesses is just fabulous.
I will be wrapping up my market season at All Things Pretty this weekend in Red Deer. This is a two day show, with a Friday Night Ticketed Soiree, which will have amazing live music, private shopping and don’t quote me, but usually there are a few refreshing beverages! Saturday is open to the public with a door admission. This is my first Holiday All Things Pretty, and I am so excited! I cannot wait to be a little closer to home, and to see some more familiar faces.
Update on the Shops! It has been amazing to have been included in some pretty amazing shops in Alberta! This year I have had the opportunity to participate in the Marketspot CORE shopping Centre location right downtown in Calgary as well as their Crossiron Mills location! I am currently still with the Curated. Shop in Edmonton at the International Airport Mall… and freaking love it up there! I wish it was closer so I could pop in and see the staff (who are fab!) as well as do some shopping as well since there are so many amazing makers in one place!
NEW shops! ‘The Plant Place’ is opening up in Cochrane on December 7th! Where you might ask? Right when you come down the big hill into town, its right on the side of the main road! Since we were neighbors at spruce meadows, I loaded her up with a ton of great stuff! So be sure to hit The Plant Place when you’re in Cochrane! Also my pal Richelle has opened an amazing location in Drayton Valley called ‘Local Collective’ now…. I am a jerk and haven’t made the trip to drop stuff off with her YET, but her shop is open, it’s amazing, and shortly my items will be popping up in there!
I am currently applying to Spring markets, so stay tuned for the new schedule for 2019! I will tell you this, mark your calendars for the Spring Picket Fence Market on April 27, 2019 and the Holiday Market on November 3, 2019!
One Crafty Husband.
What can I say, I am pretty partial to this guy. He is my voice of reason, my motivator, and the person who keeps me fed, on time and sane… mostly.
#onecraftyhusband has been a tag on my Instagram and Facebook for quite some time now. But recently the mr. has branched out into the social media world with his own accounts. This follows the remarkable workshop I attended through Pony Friday and Kayak Online Marketing, where the fab-mazing people I met suggested that he have a voice in the internet world. I came home and pitched the idea, and BOOM! One.Crafty.Husband was a thing!
I am so excited push his brand a little! He is the CNC user in our house, as well as the router setter. Frequently he reaches things on shelves for me. What has he been tasked with making lately? Well, he has been cutting growth charts like crazy! They have been flying off the virtual shelves this New Year, which is INCREDIBLE! So if you have purchased one of our carved charts, we appreciate you!!!! Also, if you follow my insta, you will see I have been on a unicorn kick, OCH has been cutting me unicorns, mermaids, circles, apples, and any other crazy shape I can think of. Let me not forget that he recently purchased a laser for our CNC router. The items coming out of the shop these days are pretty damn slick.
All that being said, be sure to get onto instagram to follow the latest and greatest that my way better half has to offer. www.instagram.com/one.crafty.husband
So - blogging, lets just go ahead and say I'm not usually one to write anything.
If I had a choice in the matter I would piggy back on everyone else's comment in a group birthday card. With that being said, I am pushing out of my comfort zone to introduce the OCM blog.
Hi, I'm Sam-One Crafty Mother. Lets just say that I have always had a keen preference for the hot glue gun, glitter, being alone.... only child style.
Fast forward a few years... a husband, some kids a couple of cats, and the desire to make some stuff. We started with hair clips, branched into making furniture, then slowly transformed into painting signs. Over the last 3 years, I have worked at and practiced my techniques bringing me to the stage I'm at today!
In 2016, the opportunity to host one of the most amazing and successful markets in our area came up!
The Picket Fence Market, hosted by 'Please Paint Me' for a number of years in Olds, became available for a change in coordination. After collaborating on the first market together the reins were turned over to OCM.
The market currently happens 3 times a year, Spring, Oldstoberfest Rodeo, and Holiday and we added a holiday POP UP SHOP to our calendar this past year! We look forward to all the new adventures we get to take on in 2018!
